Reccomend me a supplier for 100 meters of quality RG-78
Can anyone recommend me a UK supplier for 100 meters of good quality, high braid density RG-58 please? Ebay abounds with the stuff, some with specs, some not, and Westlake's don't give a braid, or any other spec as far as I can see. I would imagine there's some right junk out there, and I don't want to be the chap buying it Thanks!

The thread title should of course have said RG-58, not 78, I've not even had a drink this weekend! Thanks for the Knights link!

I'd stay away from the stuff Knights sell, it is poor quality, I have a 100m reel sitting next to me. It is cab-58u, which if you put that into Google, it comes back as imported by Sharmans who sell cheap and cheerful. But more importantly, it uses the words 'good quality' which is a euphemism for shoite, run a mile. It then goes onto tell you it is 80% braid - I think that's where the discussion ends. FS Cables does some decent stuff, I bought a 100m reel of RG213/U from them and I have to use bolt croppers to cut it. I've not bought any RG58/U from them, but I bet it has more than 80% braid and they answer emails quickly. http://www.fscables.com/The name of the company is a bit of a give away in what they specialise in.

You should really do a bit of research before saying things like that, especially as I provided a direct link in an earlier post to the coax section of their shop. Aswell as 58U they also sell 58CX which is stamped RG58CX and is quoted on various websites as being %95 braid http://www.sharman-multicom.co.uk/Catal ... m-CAB-58CX

Perhaps if you had specified the exact coax you were talking about and back it up with the specifications that you have now shown, it would have helped. Also, you cannot be sure that the RG58 CX that they sell is the Sharman's stuff, probably is, but you haven't provided any proof that it is. Whereas I mentioned that I have bought from Knights and can confirm by the labelling on the reel that it is Sharman's. Be more specific and quote figures/sources first time around.

Re: Reccomend me a supplier for 100 meters of quality RG-78
Just buy decent coax like Westflex or similar and stop trying to save a few quid on some cheap copy - you get what you pay for and if you see a supplier selling "Top quality" cable at 30% or 50% cheaper than other suppliers then there is a strong likelihood that is shite so for the sake of an extra £20 or £30 is it worth it?

Re: Reccomend me a supplier for 100 meters of quality RG-78
Thanks for the replies, I was looking for a supplier that gives full specs on materials, many say X% braid, yet the braid is perhaps not pure copper, but copper plated aluminium wire, as is the centre conductor. It seems very few give proper specs, even Westlakes seem sparse on this info. An expensive Ebay supplier does at least cite decent information: http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/100m-RG58-C-U ... Sw9NxTt-4e
