I have a mmdvm hotspot , it is up and running , i added a second for mobile use and i have a clash of frequencies , What frequencies can be used for hotspot operation ?. Mine is set to around 438.800 , I can not see them all using the same frequency,? so how far can we move from this frequency ?.
RSGB 70cm band plans says hotspot at 438.800 but does not say + or minus - ?..

anyone care to help ?

Looking at the band plan 434MHz seems to be available as well.

As the hotspot is for personal access to the system, very low power and very limited coverage, just one frequency shouldn't be a problem.
Unless you have a next door neighbour who's also operating.
I can't imagine you'd have the mobile one operating at the same time as the home one?

When i enter my car and turn on the radio / hotspot they clash, and lock up until i get away from the house, i also have 2 other hams either side of me , 2 doors away each side and they cause problems to my hotspot , so need to know what frequencies i can use .
Reading online the RSGB says 434.000 and 438.800 , reading forums they say stay away from sat frequencies , and go on to say they are setup on other frequencies ?.

So the question is , is 434.000 and 438.800 set in stone or can you use other digital frequencies ?..

Don't you switch off your node, when you leave home?
I'm no expert but I'm not sure it should be left unattended?
I assume there's no way another amateur could gain access to the system?

As far as I'm aware, those are the designated frequencies.
With such low power, and inefficient antennas, I'm surprised they're an issue.
Your proximity to your node must swamp any other?

Bear in mind, although I take an interest in such things, I don't operate anything that involves such things, repeaters, internet linking etc.
It's all direct RF from here.

No i do not turn it off , i am not the only one licenced here , lol i have to turn off a low powered hotspot but a neighbour with a NOV can go on holidays and leave his repeater connected ? .
Like i say all i want to know is where i can set the frequencies for my hotspots and openspot , All over the net and youtube they are using odd frequencies , and the RSGB band plans just give the 2 and no note if you can move from them ?..

I never thought it would be a hard to answer question ?. or is the frequencies not set in stone ?.

I can't comment on the RSGB but over here we are recommend to use the 2 frequencies you mentioned so try the 2nd one, it is a big no no have 2 hotspots on the same frequency can bring the network down,

I think, if you not using an NoV it's just the two frequencies.
They are specifically for Low Power, non NoV personal hotspots.
I'm surprised there are three amateurs, in such close proximity, using personal hotspots!
With them using low power, and inefficient antennas, do the other two interfere with each other?
How much coverage do you get.
The mobile one shouldn't be an issue, just don't fire it up until you're a few streets away.
Or am I missing something?

As I said, I just take an interest in things in general but my activity doesn't involve anything other than using antennas.

Your neighbour has to keep his repeater turned on or he is supposed to notify ETCC every time it goes down....

To be honest i am the same , i do not tx , i just use it for something to listen to , Just used once for a radio check, But when i setup my gear i want it running correctly and if i take an interest it will be ready to use.. and yes the other radio users can access my hotspot from their qth we are only 2 doors away from each other, me in the middle , so yes it is fun and games at times.. Even the small antenna and low power , it amazes me how far the coverage reaches ,this is the reason i am asking about frequencies . it is bad enough having a repeater next door , .

Thats all good but what about the close proximity to other radio users ?. i can not use sats no more , even 1.2g is getting knocked out with this repeater , the swamping is bad .
Why would anyone want a repeater in their home ? it does no good , yes some will benefit from it , but in the end of the day he just gets the same distance he would without it, apart from the internet connection . and he could have that with a hotspot.
I am not a digital lover , i just want to see what things do and explore the rest of the hobby .

some of the rules for repeaters etc are a total disaster , never thought out, i never in my lifetime thought i would get swamped from other stations around the world..

A repeater locally to me is my idea of hell!
The nearest one to me is 4km away.
It's on 70cm.
The sprogs are. I'm sure, within spec but the crap is a real pain, especially when the band is busy.

I've access to a tower, there's no way I'd allow a repeater on it.

Surely, if the site is good enough for a repeater you want to use it to it's full potential for direct contacts?

Just looked, you're 27m asl, what's the point of a repeater there?
