 New to DMR and question about DMR transceivers

Post New to DMR and question about DMR transceivers
Hi All
I can see that there are a number of transceivers now that are DMR, my own experience with DMR as only been to listen via a scanner and software to a number of different utility type stations, maybe a taxi firm or two that use unencrypted DMR transmissions. if i buy a Ham transceiver for DMR can i still use it to listen to such services ? since they are not encrypted? is there a decent guide around to using DMR on the Ham bands?
