The weatherman has suggested there may be some Aurora this evening & tomorrow. So remember a distorted Auroral signal report is not 599 but 59A.

This may occur not just on 2m, often also on 6m & 4m.

Good luck as the best Auroral time here seems to be 5-7pm BST with GMs calling CQA.

A signal report should be a genuine signal report, 59 whatever is often just a rubber stamp report, so give a report as it actually is, be that 47A, 58A, 35A, or whatever, not every signal is a "5 and 9" be that a standard contact or via an auroral or other path. :)

Quite, my mention of 599 was merely to illustrate translated into an Auroral report would be 59A. It was not a suggestion that all reports should follow this HF contest style of reporting. Most of the reports I send are 39A.

Incidentally I wonder what a Morse code decoder or computer would make of such signals? At least with an Auroral QSO you know that you are communicating with real ears & brain at the other end not cheating with a machine.
