 Does anybody have an old copy of.....
I used to have an old book, I think it was 'Amateur Radio Techniques' by Pat Hawker, one of the old Gods of ham radio.
What I really want is the design for a switched bi-directional HB9CV for HF.
My loft is perfectly aligned ENE-WSW, and just waiting for a decent 18MHz antenna, because it's exactly a half wave up too. So maybe I can get a bit of sneaky DX on 17 during daylight on contest weekends :-)

the book is on amazon second hand for a penny 2.70 carriage.... UK seller i hope that helps chris

Actually, it might have been a switched ZL special, not a HB9CV, I seem to remember ladder-line somewhere.

Chris, I have the book 7th Edition, if you can give me a few hints I can scan the page and send it on There are two entries, the ZL Special and the shotened ZL special Tommy
