Shielded feeder is also not required in a open wire format and it would also stop you strapping them to make a Marconi.

Homebrew open wire is doddle to make, if a tad boring (well, it was for me coz it was so long!)

I love using home made open wire line, but in my situation where the shack is located it just isn't possible, so it's 300 Ohm in 20mm conduit or nothing.

Actually Paul my OWF is the first time I have really been able to use it...since 1980! Im glad I have because it has meant I can run a really big doublet with the centre far from the house and not lose power. It also looks really cool! ha ha...shallow? Moi??

That is the nice thing about open wire line, it's the low loss, even with 300 Ohm line the highest loss I get is on 60M where it's about 1.3db over the length I use, because the standing wave on that band is fairly high, on 10M it's 0.73db because of the lower standing wave, it beats the remote matching unit fed with coax :thumbsup:
