Another antenna switch
I wanted another switch, with another rig port and more antenna ports (last one had two) The there were the comments on the previous discussion about what to do with the unused rigs. My other one switches the unused rigs to ground. Thought I would do what was said to be the ideal, so this one has six built in 150W dummy loads, so any unused rigs are connected to a dummy load. Could also be used for testing, the heat sink would be fine for at least 60 seconds at 100W. Just have to fit and wire the switches. Will also be able to switch it remotely. Attachment:

How come you are using 150ohm dummy loads?

Re: Another antenna switch
Finished and tested. Even without screening, 100W on one rig, and another rig in the next position on the same frequency, and I get a 9+40db signal. With the transmitting rig on another band, I can't hear anything on the receiving rig. That is the non-scientific testing, which means that even if I was to transmit on the same frequency as another rig was receiving on, no harm is going to be done. Tests showed the isolation decrease to about 40dB above 80MHz, and gets worse up to about 130MHz, then starts to come down again. It is only intended for HF, so I am happy. I may put screening in, one day. Worst SWR up to 50MHz is 1.15:1 Attachment:

Re: Another antenna switch
Couple of pertinant questions, where did you source the relays, and dummy load resistors from, and what is the RF spec and pin configuration of the Omron relays? (Ie DPDT, SPDT and frequency upper limit etc.)

(Ie DPDT, SPDT and frequency upper limit etc.) Ebay, SPDT, and they are fine up to 4M as long as the PCB is right, which it is not here, as I wanted six rigs in the space of the die cast box. It isn't bad, but it would have to be improved if I had intended to use it on 4m.

Have you got a part number for the dummy load resistors Steve?
